Training Resources

Texas licensed foster parents must complete annual required training hours (see chart below for training hours requirements). Family Link foster parents can acquire their annual training hours in a variety of ways:

*Through Family Link Family Fun Days that combine training, potluck dinners, recreation and foster family support by interacting with other foster/adopt families. – Watch your email for fun-day Evites!

*PAPH & Meds training is required annually. Family Link provides these classes in conjunction with the Family Link New Foster/Adopt Parent Training held approximately every other month. Click here for latest schedule. Be sure to plan early to attend so your annual certificate(s) do not expire before the next class date.

*Up to 1/3 of the required annual training hours may come from self-instructional training (including books and DVDs related to child care).  Fax or email documentation of training to your Case Manager at 512-233-6473.

*You may also attend parenting trainings or conferences through your local colleges, schools, churches or other community resources. Training on Behaviour Management, Child Development, Parenting, Special Needs Medical Training – i.e. Coping with Child Diabetes, Asthma, ADHD, etc… are all good choices for training.  Submit signed documentation by trainer of successful completion from the training source.
